The thermal regulator's out
Pirates are definitely not an ideal encounter in the Outer Rim, though they're occasionally a little less fraught than the Imperials. The set of pirates the Ghost only just escaped, however, had slightly better ships and better armaments than the usual, which means they took a few hits on their way to a clear heading out of range of the rogues and their guns. Lightspeed is only useful when you're not headed straight into a gravity well.
"Well," Hera says, rubbing her hands together to keep her fingertips warm. "Good news is we have shields and our hyperdrive is minimally damaged. Our environmental controls are fried, though, mostly the thermal controls and water recycler, which is better than the oxygen generator being out."
She lifts her head, turning to shout back deeper into the ship.
"Any other damage reports, Chop?"

He sighs, his breath whirling into fine white mist. "Is the nav computer online?"
no subject
"I'm going to have to reboot it, and we'll see from there."
She rubs her hands against each other again, chafing the skin in hopes of getting some warmth from friction.
"Do you see my gloves?"
no subject
He looks along the console in front of him, then hers, then down around the floor. "Maybe they're in your room?"
no subject
She shakes her head, lekku swinging a little bit as she attempts to keep the blood flowing into them. It's getting colder.
"Let's see how the reboot goes, and then figure out what comes next."
It takes her a minute to get everything set up, and then a little longer to see if all the right programming starts up again.
"So . . . That's not great, but --"
no subject
He rubs his hands together. "That's all that matters."
no subject
"It's going to take me a little more work, there's a subroutine that's not talking to the rest of the navcomp. Let me just -- "
She rummages around in a small compartment just to the right of the pilot's chair, pulling out a set of tiny tools, and works at unscrewing the front plating of the navigation computer.
"Just try not to step on me while I'm under here?"
no subject
He's already reaching for a flashlight.
no subject
She's already hissing a little as she lowers herself down, lekku brushing against the freezing metal plating of the deck.
"And then hold the flashlight for me when you get back."
A huff of breath accompanies that last word as she slides herself into the underside of the computer, checking wires for breaks and looking for any corroded fastenings.

Chopper, leaned over an open panel, looks up from the environmental controls just long enough to bleep at Kanan as he passes. Kanan shakes his head. "Yeah, easy for you to say."
He returns to the cockpit a few minutes later, flight suit in hand, and then kneels down on the floor next to her.
no subject
"Thank you," she says fervently, reaching up for the flight suit in order to lay it on the floor underneath herself.
"I think I've almost got it, as long as the connections all stay connected when I'm done."
no subject
"And how optimistic are you about that?"
no subject
"I'm not not-optimistic. I'm sure it will hold long enough to get us into hyperspace, but I might need to patch it up again on our way back out. Which means we're going to need to navigate to a system with good repair facilities, because that is definitely not as firm a hold as I'd like."
Ever, pretty much.
"Here, can you put the l-light a little more to my l-left, please?"
no subject
He reaches his free hand out to her, touching her upper arm.
"There's a heating pad in the medkit, I can get it -"
no subject
She manages not to pull away. Just.
"N-no. I'm almost d-done here. Once we get up to l-lightspeed, then I c-can -- you're okay, r-right?"
One last connection, then carefully sliding herself back out again and closing up the panel. She can do this.
no subject
"Hera, you're freezing -"
no subject
She takes a deep breath, keeping her hands steady through sheer force of will.
"Damn! Ow. I'm f-fine, just scorched m-myself f-finishing attaching this coupling. C-coming out."
Now the shivering gets free rein as she slides herself out and sits up, hunching over and wrapping her arms around herself to try and feel warm.
"R-right. L-let's g-get m-moving."
no subject
"I can calculate the jump. Just try to get warm."
no subject
Then she takes her seat in the pilot's chair, pulling her legs up and attempting to get them under the suit, as well.
"If you m-mess this up, Chop w-will kill you."
No pressure.
no subject
His fingers run over the buttons, clicking through their options. He works as quickly as he can, but -
"Closest system is Garos, eight hours. It's crawling with Imps, but..."
But he's still laying in the coordinates. This is definitely an 'any port in a storm' situation.
no subject
Hera clutches her own shoulders tighter, rubbing her freezing hands against them under her flight suit in an effort to get warm.
"I d-don't think Chop'll h-have the thermal c-controls fixed by then. T-too much went up l-like a torch when w-we got hit."
no subject
His voice is still steady, but his hands are beginning to shake as they run over the controls. It takes him a little longer than it otherwise would, but after a few minutes, the ship jerks, and the stars blaze into the blue-white blur of hyperspace.
Kanan looks back to Hera.
no subject
"M-maybe the heat-pack from the m-medkit and m-more b-blankets?"
no subject
He rises from his chair, trembling hands wrapping around his arms. "- some place on the ship that'd be - warmer?"
no subject
"One of the s-spare b-bunks gets c-close and s-stuffy, and s-stays that w-way forever. The other option is d-down by the eng-gine, b-but the d-decking w-will still b-be cold."
no subject
(It's hard to focus his thoughts when it's this cold. And it's hard to focus on anything while hearing Hera's voice shake so badly.)
"Do you - think you can walk?"
